Alberta Update

Alberta may stop solemnizing marriages: Klein

(CBC) - Alberta Premier Ralph Klein has suggested that his province may get out of the marriage business altogether in the wake of the passage of same-sex marriage legislation in the House of Commons Tuesday. Klein was meeting with his members of the provincial legislature Wednesday morning to decide how to continue the fight against same-sex marriage.

But he acknowledged Tuesday that he had few options.

''There are no legal weapons. There's nothing left in the arsenal,'' Klein said. ''We're out on a lurch.''

What the ??? This is getting out of hand and the bill has only been alive for one day!

Same sex marriage is A-Okay!
06.29.05 (7:53 am)
So yes, Canada finally approved the same sex marriage bill, which, I would be surprised if didn't, making waves world wide. Though there was celebration in gay communities throughout the country but I was surprised at the little amount of hoople everywhere else. I guess Dan was right in saying that many people aren't ready for this yet. As far as I'm concerned, they are people all the same and should be entitiled to have the sarme rights as the rest. The only downfall to this is the hick running the show over in Alberta. Ralf Klein has stated that his government will skirt around this new legislation as he firmly believes that marriage is an institution between man and wife. Yes, I firmly believe that everyone is entittled to their own opinions but politicians need to speak for the people they represent. Is Klein doing this for the people of Alberta? I hope not but, you can never know.

On a more local note, yesterday Vancouver City Council voted "NO" (8 to 3) against a proposed new development in South Vancouver that would see the building of a brand new "Environmentally Friendly" Walmart. Though there was a lot of debate both for and against this new building, the thruth remains that this was probably the best option for the city. Honestly, we don't need another Walmart killing the local economy. YEY Vancouver! :) This further proves that we're not afraid to stand up to the big guys.

Finally, a little tidbit that I read this morning on the way into work. Vancouver will host a Diversity expo to celebrate the various cultures in living in the area. The idea is to have it build up to 2010. Woohoo! I'm all about the cultural celebrations! :)

That's enough newsy stuff. I'm not into reviewing news but these headlines sort of caught my eye.

Hell Day I
06.28.05 (12:44 pm)

I'm going to be counting down the days until the move. This is out of hand. Today's issues:

1. Do we get the moving company or the photocopier company to move the photocopier?

2. Phone and fax service is scheduled for move on the 6th. What the hell do we do without a fax machine for 2 days?

3. Packing needs to bedone. After garbage files get recycled.

4. Is P moving with us?

5. No, I haven't forgotten about your minutes. I've been picking my butt so I haven't had time to do them.

6. Dito for your phone list.

7. Dito for the filing.

Shoot me now.

I had a hard time with these. The slide show wasn't working for me so, here you go. A few pictures of me as a kid. Funny thing is, after this age, it's nearly 10 years before I get any more pictures.

The River
06.27.05 (6:19 pm)
"The river flowed both ways. The current moved from north to south, but the wind usually came from the south, rippling the bronze-green water in the opposite direction. This apparently impossible contradiction, make apparent and possible, sitll fascinated Morag, even after the years of river-watching."

This is taken from Margaret Laurence's "The Diviners". She is one of Canada's most famous noveists and this amazing opening to her fabulous book is a clear example as to why. I've never been there but I've seen pictures and have met a few people that have been in that small town just outide of Toronto and they say that the river looks exacty like that. I just thought I'd share that with you.

Celebreties - A venture to the gay nightclub scene
06.27.05 (12:16 pm)
So on Friday night we headed to a local night club to check out a special presentation by a local Portuguese hiphop group. I know the guys, and felt inclined to show my support. The fun thing is that I managed to get a few friends out too! After the performance, I said my goodbyes and we trooped over to one of the local gay clubs, Celebrities. I've heard about this place for years but had never been there. In tow with my four gf's we headed over to the little club. I should also mention that Vernie invited a young gent who lives in her building to come out with us. Super nice guy, shy and quiet but totally easy going. We had mentioned that he didn't have to come and hang out with us at Celebrities, but he came anyways. What a good sport.

After a short walk and a couple of slices of some of the best dollar a slice pizza I've ever had, we made it to the club. Inside, the beautiful people were in full swing, having a fabulous time. After meeting up with some other friends of friends, we hit the dance floor. At some point during the night, the girls were all standing around chatting and drinking and Chris, our newly acquired token male friend (who we think is straight) is asked to dance by one of Steph's not-so-straight friends. The next thing you know, the guys are all leaning in to weachother, chatting, touching, smiling. We all looked at eachother baffled. Is he gay or is he straight? Important to know this as we're trying to hook him up with Steph (who we've nicknamed Baby Girl or BG for short).

I met the girls on Saturday afternoon and all we could talk about was Chris and the gay/straight issue. We've been informed that he declined the offer for a shag but what a trooper, he was totally ok with the whole thing. I don't know many (any actually) straight men who would have taken it so well. Bottom line: Chris is good in my books. He must have had a great time too because he's aggreed to head out with us to the Lotus next Saturday night.

As much fun as I had, this can't be a weekly happening for me. Not only did it turn out to be a really expensive night for me, but I was sore from all the 'getting down'. I don't know how people can do this all the time...

What the ???
06.27.05 (9:47 am)

At this rate. It'll be next week before my next entry. It's freakin' CRAZY here! The packing madness has hit everyone! It's been non stop since I got here at 8:30.

Hope the weekend was fabulous for everyone. I had a great time. Went out pdancing and drinking on Friday night and Saturday we walked around NW and headed to the night market out in Richmond. Dan and I watched zombies yesterday. He really wanted to see Land of the Dead so off we went. I was actually impressed. Not bad for zombies...

That's all I have for now. Oh yeah, we heded to the local gay club on Friday. I'd never been there and wow, how nice! I had more fun there than I've had in years. It's totally laid back and you don't get the feeling that you're being checked out all the time. It rocked.

Time to get back to the packing!

Jung Typology (Personality) Test
06.24.05 (8:27 am)

Pronounced Young, this is a personality typology test based on Jung's Humanmetrics Perspective. I've taken a bunch of these tests, some of which included very expensive packages with detailed analysis. The funny thing is that of all the times I've done this, I've always had the same result. It's pretty accurate. My results are below. What type are you?

Your Type is
ENFJ

Extroverted 44
Intuitive 62
Feeling 62
Judging 22

Qualitative analysis of your type formula

You are:

  • moderately expressed extrovert
  • distinctively expressed intuitive personality

The Insanity Continues
06.23.05 (12:33 am)
It's 2:40AM on Thrusday morning and I just now finished my Psych. Intro. What a nightmare. It's actually not bad for a first draft but we're definately going to have to do some clean up on it before the final is due. Plus, I got back my Anthropology Essay outline last night and wow. I thought I'd gone over board but he actually said I had some good points. I feel stupid though. It's SOOOO obvious that I did it the night before. Jeez. Even my title page has a spelling mistake. He was too nice to me. I got 8/10. Now before I start getting into it, I'm going to head off to bed and try to get at least a few hours sleep. 'Till later.

Wacky and Weird
06.22.05 (1:16 pm)
OK. In the time I've been on ebay, I've seen some weird stuff come and go but this has to take the cake. Michael Jackson on Toast? Please. And to think that people are actually bidding on this...if you have all that money and you want to give it away, please contact me and I will gladly send you my address so that you may forward the cheque.

However, I also found this little rebuke. Hilarious.

Zoe Trope Kick's Ass

Well, she does rock. I picked up her "teens" book a week or so ago and I started reading it Monday. What surprises me is that it's not just a fun read but she says stuff that I thought about when I was her age. I finally decided to google her and found her blog. Check her out on my side panel thingy.

Stain Update #III
06.21.05 (2:56 pm)

Though I still have 6 hours left in my day before I getting home (class tonight) but I will give you the final stain update before leaving work. Great news...STILL NO STAINS. I'm doing really well, not even little scuff marks! Knowing my luck, I've just jinxed myself into dirt and grimme!

Stain Update #II
06.21.05 (10:00 am)
Well, so far so good. Firve hours and still no stain.

I was thinking about stains and something else came to mind. Primarily, how I can't eat any food without getting something on myself, usually on the boobage area. I can't help it, I've always been "well endowed" and the buggers have been getting in the way for as far back as I can remember. It's gotten so bad that I am now in the habit of eating with a bib, regardless of where I go to eat. Hey, saves me from looking like a fool with food on her chest afterwards.

Having problems viewing blogs at blogspot. Going over to try it again before lunch. Wish me luck (with the stain freeness I mean)! ;)

Stain Waiting to Happen
06.21.05 (7:23 am)
Yes, that's me today. For some reason, this reminds me of "My Life as a Wedgie" a fun book on my TBR pile but still, I'm a stain magnet today. I'm wearing white pants. And wow, it's even before Labour day!

It's supposed to be 24 (celcious) today and it's the first official day of summer so I thought I'd celebrate by wearing white. So far so good, I've had 'the pants' on for 2 hours and still no stain. WOOHOO. I'll update on the progress as the day goes by.

Ta ta for now and HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!

Individualism - A Rant
06.20.05 (5:40 pm)
Thank you Lance Armstrong, bebe, the gap, old navy and every other major chain, group and individual that got this rubber wrist band "fad" under way.

When I first saw the Armstrong wristbands, I quite liked them. Great way to support cancer and have a nifty little thing to wear. And then, everyone and their mother put out these wristbands and everyone and their dog started wearing them. It's getting outrageous. Yes please, homoginize me. I want to be just like you. OK. So maybe it's not all that bad but it leads me to another rant subject: perfume. Yes, I know, sounds harmless enough but honestly, when is it acceptable to sell perfume to someone by saying, "It's the best seller this summer".

INTERNALMOVIE: THE PERFUME

Last Christmas, I ran out of perfume just before the holidays. I have a tendency to use up all of my little samples until I either find something I like or until I just run out and, this last holiday, I used up every single sample I had and still didn't find anything that really caught my nose. So, I headed off to the mall in search of a scent that would satisfy my feminine wild side. What a mistake.

I walked into the Bay's cosmetics area and was instantly spritzed by a woman at the Dior counter. A little miffed, I asked her to refrain from spraying passers by as we may be alergic. Strike 1.

At the Clinique counter, I'm ignored and passed up for the obviously richer, classier older woman who butts in front of me without as much as an excuse me. "Thank you for throwing away a sale." I say to the rep as I walk away, clearly upset. Strike 2.

As I'm about to give up, I hear a sweet little voice from behind 4 miles of make-up. A nice lady is asking me if I need help. "Can I help you miss?" Surprised, I dive into my little rant. "Why yes you can. I need to buy some new perfume because I've ran out and I'm not sure what I want to buy. Something fresh and fruity but not powdery or old ladyish. Can you recommend anything?" She shows me perfume after perfume, spritz spritz spritz. Nothing even close to what I said I was looking for yet, she continues to spray. As I reach point break, she brings out another bottle. "This is our best seller this Christmas. It's sold out in Toronto, Montreal and Calgary." Looking at Dan a bit confused I say to the woman, "But I don't want to smell like everyone else. I want to smell like me!" This comes out in my whinyest of voices. I've had enough. The lady keeps trying to make the sale. "But it's a wonderful scent...blah blah blah." I lose it. Before I know it I hear the infernal sound of my angry voice "I TOLD YOU. I DON'T WANT TO SMELL LIKE EVERBODY ELSE!" Strike 3.

All goes quiet. I look around and realize that everyone is looking at me like I've got green skin. I say to the woman, in a much quieter voice "I don't want to smell like everyone else." She looks at me with eyes like daggers "Well then, if you want to smell like you, just don't use anything." I felt like slamming her agains the wall. Instead, took a couple of deep breaths and, looking around in disgust, I walked out of the Bay. Instead, I went to sage and had the nice people there mix me a wonderful blend of herbs and smelly things that are divine.

Moral of the story: Make sure you know what you want before going shopping. You don't want to end up being stared at like a person with green skin. It's not fun.

Neglect
06.20.05 (11:22 am)
I've been neglecting my duties. I haven't made an entry a few days time. Usually, I still manage to read what people have written but this past week didn't allow for such luxury. Sorry everyone. I feel like I've been scuffing you all off. Not true, but that is what it feels like.

Today appears to be going well. I say appears because the day is only half over. Lately it seems that the day can change in the blink of an eye. However, so far, it's going well. My arms are a bit hot and itchy. I spent a few hours walking around Stanley Park yesterday, releasing books, and though I didn't notice at the time, I managed to get a bit of a burn and maybe too much sun because I wasn't feeling all that hot last night. Doing better today, just hot arms. I also put some temporary purplish colour in my hair. Looks cool but it doesn't scream FUN. It's just different. I think the next time I'll try something brighter like maybe the orange. We'll see how it goes.

I've just returned from lunch and I have a couple of 'rants' but they'll have to wait until later. Bloody work is calling my name.

06.17.05 (7:35 am)
Honestly can't remember if I even logged yesterday. The entire day is a bit of a blur...

Things are crazy at work. We're busier than it's been in years. Great for making time go fast, bad for the headaches it tends to bring on.

I was actually productive yesterday. Rather than going to class last night (no lab, nothing due), I took the time and headed to the library to do some reseach for my Anthro. paper on bride burning. Interesting stuff....

This weekend is booked solid too. Tonight I'm meeting the girl(s) (not sure if Vernie is coming too) at the, hold your breath, MALL, and we're going to watch a flick. Not sure what yet but we'll come up with something, I'm sure. Tomorrow, Off to the library for the day and then meeting with Dan in the evening for "Batman Begins" (woohoo! excited about this one!). Then Sunday is our bookcrossing "Mass Release" at Stanley Park. Also going to be a blast. So there's my weekend. A healthy blen of work and play. :)

Meetup - Meeting people made easy
06.15.05 (8:53 am)

I think I've mentioned it in the past, at some point, but Bookcrossing plays a huge role in my life. As a part of this group, I also participate and organize the Vancouver Meetup Group which is a get together for Bookcrossers in the Vancouver area, organized throught another online community known as Meetup. I've always enjoyed my meetings and the people that come and go on a monthly basis. However, yesterday I came to realize the amazing group of people that are brought together by this group. Spanning all age groups, social status, life experience, race and age, the converstaion is always facinating, entertaining and, more often than not, I feel like I could sit there and talk for hours.

Because of my positive experience, I'd like to share Meetup with you. There are meetings for everything and anything you can imagine and the chances that there is a group meeting near you is more than likely. I encourage you to check it out, meet new people and enjoy new experiences. Let me know how it goes.

Top 10 - Most Underrated Movies
06.13.05 (2:22 pm)

Not an accurate list but here are the one that come to mind right off the bat.

10. Ce jour-là Murders gone awry.
9. The Doom Generation Totally fucked but oh so good.
8. Janghwa, Hongryeon The most suspenseful movie I've ever seen. Get ready for a good scare.
7. Life as a House Surprisingly, this came and went through the movie circles with little attention. It's a good little movie that makes me cry every time I see it.
6. Ondskan Love this movie. One of the best coming of age stories I've ever seen. Awesome.
5. Secretary Quirky doesn't begin to describe this but I LOVE this movie.
4. Office Space Freakin' hilarious. Everyone will have something in common with this one.
3. River's Edge Just saw this a few weeks ago. I'm amazed. Keanu CAN act (and I really like him too so it's a good thing).
2. The Good Girl This was a sleeper hit with me. Aniston in a good movie? Yes. It's true.
1. Cube No budget at its best. Natali made this for almost free but you'd never tell. Wicked.

Well, there's my list. I could do another 15 lists like this one but these are the ones that come to mind right off the bat. If you happen to watch any of them thanks to the recommendation, let me know. I'd love to see what you thought.

Recovering from the Weekend
06.13.05 (1:09 pm)

No, I didn't party like it was the end of the world, but the cold that ha been bugging me for a few days finally hit home on Saturday night. I slept on the couch, where the TV watched me for hours. The last thing I remember was the closing credits to "Sylvia" a really good biopic on Sylvia Plath. She was a tortured soul and this comes through in her poetry but that's besides the point. I then got up at 9:30 AM when my honey went to work. I headed off to bed and didn't get up 'till 2pm. I was starving and ill so I raided mom's fridge and medicine cabinet and went back to the couch where I spent the next 9 hours. Finally went to bed at 11 and slept like a baby. Feeling better this morning but a bit sore. Could be much worse.

Flag presentation went well of Friday morning and dinner at the Adega was a blast. Vernie and I headed to a movie on Saturday and watched Gregg Araki's newest flick, Mysterious Skin. I argue that this is his best film to date and I think he's finally discovered his voice. Amazing. Well worth the watch. I doubt this will last long or get much attention from the critics so, it has spurred my top 10 list of most underrated movies. Look for it later today.

Oh yeah, almost forgot the best part. The movie is rated R which doesn't allow for entry to anyone under the age of 18 (even if with an adult) so the funiest thing happened - I was ID'd when purchasing the ticket (which I thought was a joke but played along) and then again when I went into the theatre. WOW. I must have looked really good! :)

Tata for now!

What happened yesterday?
06.10.05 (11:45 am)
I tried and tried and tried to log in yesterday but the bloody site was haywire to the point where it was taken off line. What the hell happened? I all of the drugs and booze finally caught up with our friendly Tblog Server.

I'm sick. Like runny, stuffy nose, little fever and soreness. I feel like crap but I'm still here today. My head weighs like 5 tons today. I can barely keep it up. It's not all bad though. I met the Mayor this morning for the flag presentation. For you non-Portuguese folk (which I guess is many) today is Independence Day in Portugal so to celebrate, the Mayor of Vancouver invited a group of people from the community to come and help him celebrate. We had some goodies and coffee and then I got in a taxi and came to work. Tonight, I'm headed for dinner at the Adega, an infamous Portuguese restaurant that has been in Vancouver for decades. It'll be good. I just hope I feel better.

Can't type anymore. Getting tired. More later.

Vancouver to Legalize Marijuana
06.08.05 (8:45 am)

Well, kind of. Sorry kids, this version isn't as upbeat as the last one. I had just finished writing my masterpiece and posted it and the bloody server didn't accept it. When I clicked on back, the entire thing was gone. Bugger. They need to fix that...NOw on with the story.

I was very excited when I saw this morning's cover of the Vancouver Sun: "Vancouver to press Ottawa to legalize and tax marijuana". Yes, you read right, good guy Vancouver Mayor Larry Campbell is pushing ahead with this contraversial yet necessary suggestion. It's taken them this long but I can only imagine the struggles that they have gone through to get the idea out and the war that is still to come but I'm glad they're pushing ahead with this.

Last time I checked, marijuana was BC second largest import (right after lumber) and considered by many, some of the best 'bud' in the world. I totally support Campbell's push to legalize the substance in an effort to both raise new tax dollars and removing control of this market from the mob/gangs. The added dollars could do much for the revitalization of the downtown eastside, especially if it is used as intended - for social programs.

Go Larry GO! I'm behind you 110% on this one.

Backbreaking Days
06.07.05 (3:06 pm)
So it's not exactly manual labour but this job has me worn out. Lately it seems as though I get here and half the day is already gone. Not bad becuase the days go by faster but I don't seem to have enough time to get everything done. Today is the exception, it's a bit quiet at the moment.

I've decided that the worse thing I ever did was let on that I'm computer literate. I've turned into the office everything: from fixing computer problems (mostly email issues - God damned it, I wish we were using Linux) to being a software knowledge junkie. I've decided that I'm going to slowly migrate everyone from Outlook Express (what a joke of a program. They need to stop packaging this with IE because it sucks the big time and uses this messed up file compression - .dbx - which is a bitch to crack and can't be imported into anything! I use Outlook and I tell you, it's better but not bny much.) to Thunderbird.

Thank god this day is almost over. I really need a vacation. I'm not asking for much, just a day or two off (in addition to the weekend). I think I'll talk to BL (boss lady) about this.

I just have to find something to do for the next 30 mins, then I'm off to class. WOOHOO!

Bigots in Parliament
06.06.05 (1:43 pm)
Though I don't consider myself overly political, I have found that, as of recenly, I've been more and more aware of the kooks we have running the government. My most recent beef is with former Liberal and now independent MP Pat O'Brien, who jumped Liberal ship because he's against the Liberal supported Bill C-38, which, from what I understand, is designed to allow for same sex marriages. Not to saw that this guy is the only close minderd man in government (he's just one of many) but the fact that he's in the papers today gets him specifically mentioned. Yes, I totally agree that people are entitled to their own ideas but I also believe that politicians have a greater responsibility to represent their constituents, not their own personal beliefs. It'll be interesting to see if the bill passes. Looks like they're trying to get it passed before parliament breaks for summer vacation.

Keiser Chiefs Rocked Vancouver
06.06.05 (9:02 am)
Yes. They sure did! What an amazing show! I've been looking forward to this for a while now. I heard one song off of their album and liked it so much I figured I'd get the album. After all, for $9, you can't really go wrong. What a great surprise, the entire album is fantastic. So when I found out the Chiefs were coming to town, I dragged my sis to the local ticket office to get ourselves some show tickets. Dirt cheap tickets at a great venue are always a great start but would the show be any good?

The night started off well with an energetic and fun performance by okgo. The guys were having a great time and the catchy music did well in warming up the fans. They finished their set off with a hilarious coreographed dance. Picture it, a bunch of 30 year olds doing a "a la Backstreet Boys" dance. Too funny.

The second opener, the Caesars (at least I think that's how you spell it), were not as good and many people were obviously not feeling the vibe because there was a mass flock for a smoke break.

At 11, the Chiefs took the stage and started the set off with a bang. Can't quite remember what they played but enough to say that I jumped around, lots. The entire show rocked. My sis, who didn't have a clue who they were, had a great time too. I can't wait to see these guys again.

The only downer to the night was that I missed the last train from Downtown and had to wait around for a bus to take me to Metrotown so that I could avoid paying an arm and a leg for a cab. The only downer to this is that when it's that late, the buses tend to wait at every stop to pick up as many people as possible (it's a 1h wait between buses). I did manage to luck out a bit and one of the guys on the bus was also going my way so I split my half of the fair with someone else. BONUS!

I played with my new camera and took lots of pictures at the show! I'll post them tonight for all you Chiefs and Chiefettes!

Almost Over - NOT soon enough
06.03.05 (3:08 pm)
I've had it with this week. I CAN'T wait to get the hell out of here for the weekend. If I don't look at another laptop for 2 days, I'll be a very, very happy girl. Unfortunately, I know I'll have to, thanks in part to all of my homework, but at least it's working computers.

My earlier saga ended with me re-installing the operating system and not performing any updates. I know it's bad but it's the only way the bloody thing seems to work. Only 30 mins to go! :)

I could cry
06.03.05 (12:37 pm)
I'm pathetic today. Beyond tired and frustrated. The boss' laptop died yesterday. Didn't really die, just infected with a virus that disabled the operating system. Took the bloody thing home because, god forbid, you have to go a few days without email. So Dan rescued all of the files last night. This morning, after sleeping for a measly 4 hours, I got here early and started re-installing Windows. Worked on the thing for 4 hours this morning. Installed Service Pack 2, the bloody thing went into collapse and I've had to start from scratch. I think I am going to have a good cry when I get out of here today.

Scratch and Sniff
06.02.05 (10:05 am)
When I came to work this morning, there was a strange smell coming from the air conditioning vents. I guess they finally got the thing going for the summer months and, initially, it still rally bad. This brought to mind a nasty experience I once had with scratch and sniff stickers.

INNERMOVIE - Scratch and Sniff Fiasco

It was my third year working at the local gas company, and I had worked in a variety of jobs but I had recently landed a position as the mailroom supervisor at the operations centre out in Surrey.  Big new job for me, especially considering that everyone else was older than me and had been doing the job for so much longer but I made sure I never let it go to my head. That's off topic though, another story for another time. I had been in the job position for 3 weeks and I had a request from the marketing department to order 10,000 scracth and sniff stikers to distribute to the public, particularly to the kids that would be attending the up and coming airshow.

I contacted our courier and had the 1, extremely heavy box of stickers picked up from the printer. I later discovered that the printer had prewarned the courier to ensure that the box wasn't thrown around because it would damage the product. He obviously didn't tell him what was in the box...

The courier proceeded to throw the box into the back of his truck and then drove around in circles in the parking lot, throwing the box from side to side (or so I would have thought from the way it looked when it came into the mailroom).

A few days go by, the box is sitting in the back of the mailroom, well out of the way. After a nice weekend, I come into the stuffy mailroom to discover a weird smell. Not sure where it's coming from (I can't see the box). In and out, all day people come and go and complain about the smell. We all look around and cant figure out where it's coming from. At 2pm, just before the last major rush of the day, the fire alarm goes off. The entire building (nearly 400 employees), scrambles in it's own organized chaos of runners and walkers, around to the muster points. Everyone is bitching and complaining. It's raining and windy and freakin' cold outside. Fire department comes in, does their thing and we are informed that there is a gas leak coming from the mailroom area. Oh no. Could it be?

I slowly arpproach the fire marshall. "Hum, excuse me sir? You may want to check a box that is sitting at the back of the loading bay." He looks at me suspectingly but instructs his guys to do check out the loading bay. About 5 mins. later, one of them comes back, not looking happy at all. They ask everyone to return to work, false alarm. Swearing is clearly heard from the gathered crowd. When I get back to the mailroom, the manager is waiting for me. This can only mean bad things right? Yeah, you guessed it the box of scratch and sniff stickers had caused the problem. The courier's inability to follow instructions had caused the plasic that bundled together and prevented them from being scratched accidentally had broken and the box, in the process of constant movement from one side of the loading bay to the other, a large number of stickers had been scratched, causing the rotten egg smell (which is added to gas for easy detection) to be sucked into the air conditioning vents and cause the disruption.

I managed to get through this without reprimand, afterall, it wasn't my fault, but I can tell you taht the courier didn't come off as well. I didn't see him again after 'the incident of the scratch and sniff'.

THE END

Honestly, why would anyone even come up with the idea of making scratch and sniffs that smell like rotten eggs. Yeah the kids need to know, but they need to come with a better way of passing on the info. I can see it now. A collection of bad smeels to avoid, in a nicelly packaged group of scratch and sniff stickers. Scents include: smelly bum, stinky armpit, stinky foot and poop!

What was I thinking!
06.01.05 (1:34 pm)
What was up with my optimistic post this morning. Who am I kidding. Since then, all I've heard is:

The quotes, do you have the quotes yet? Where are the quotes? Let's fix the computer. Can you set up the printer? How come I can't get email? Did you get the quotes? Can you call about the quotes. I need the quotes.

THE FUCKING QUOTES ARE COMING! GET OFF MY FUCKING BACK ALREADY! I CAN ONLY CALL THEM A FEW TIMES A DAY!

I did really say that, but that's what I want to say. Come on! I've been calling them 3 times a day since Thursday of last week. Not to worry, I'm working on the freakin' quotes!

Celebratory Day...kind of
06.01.05 (9:22 am)

HAPPY JUNE 1st!

What a FABULOUS morning! I've laughed more in the nearly 2 hours I've been here than I ususally laugh in a whole week! Must be a sign of good things to come.

The only thing that's concerning me at the moment is the fact that I have an Anthropology test tonight. I'm a little nervous because I'm not sure what to expect from the Prof but at the same time, I'm confident that I know the material. We'll have to see how it goes I guess.

I'm super excited. I think I'm going to buy a little digital camera this weekend. I saw it at Radio Shack (soon to be The Source Electronics - or something like that. Thanks to Circuit City for the name change). I'll have to see if I can get more detials on it (the camera, not the name change)....WOOHOO!
